How is Roadie 4 different from Roadie 3?

Quite a few upgrades! Here’s what’s new:

Smarter tuning: Upgraded algorithms and improved audio circuitry give Roadie 4 better noise immunity, faster performance, and even more accurate tuning. It now automatically detects which string you're on and tunes it precisely.
Improved ergonomics: Taller build with an anti-slip back for a more secure and natural grip during use.
Bigger, sharper display: 1.9” full-color LCD screen with 179×320 resolution, almost twice as sharp as Roadie 3.
Improved peg connector: Redesigned to fit a wider range of tuning pegs, both larger and smaller.
New scroll wheel: Makes selecting tunings and navigating menus faster and more intuitive.

What alternate tunings are built into Roadie 4?

Roadie 4 comes preloaded with over 150 alternate tunings across 12 types of instruments. It includes:

Popular tunings like Drop D, Drop C, Open C, Open D, Open G, DADGAD, Half Step Down, Full Step Down, and D Modal
Artist-inspired tunings such as the Nick Drake tuning

You can also create and save your own custom tunings using the Roadie Tuner app. Just connect your Roadie 4 to the app to unlock the full tuning library and keep your firmware up to date.

How does Roadie 4 know which string I'm tuning?

Roadie 4’s new auto-detect feature uses advanced vibration detection to automatically recognize which string you’re playing — no need to manually select it. Just pluck any string, and Roadie 4 will instantly identify and tune it.

If you're tuning the entire instrument, Roadie 4 will, by default, tune strings sequentially from lowest to highest. However, this sequence is fully customizable in the Roadie Tuner app, so you can adjust the order to fit your tuning workflow.

Can I wind strings with Roadie 4?

Yes! Roadie 4 includes a string winding feature. You can quickly wind or unwind strings when changing them, making the process faster and more efficient. It also tunes your new strings immediately after winding, combining both steps into one smooth and seamless experience.

How do I enable the "Tune Up" feature on Roadie 4?

To enable "Tune Up" on your Roadie 4, go to Settings on the device or in the Roadie Tuner app, then find the "Tune Up" option and toggle it On. Don’t forget to press "Sync" to apply the change to your device.

With this feature on, Roadie slightly detunes each string below pitch and then tightens up to the correct note, locking it in more securely for better tuning stability and tone. It may take a bit longer, but the result is a more reliable tuning.
